Scaling secure shelving across major retail estates

A retail design partner had developed a secure shelving solution for a leading consumer healthcare brand. The objective was to reduce product theft without taking the range away from customers or creating unnecessary friction at the point of purchase. City Install was appointed to turn the design into a compliant, repeatable installation across several of the UK's largest grocery and health-and-beauty retail estates.

Each visit required the team to remove merchandise from the nominated bay, assemble the shelf-guard frames and product-pusher components, fix the solution permanently in place, and return the products in the correct positions. The installation had to be robust enough to support the security objective while remaining neat, accessible and consistent with the approved layout.

City Install translated the design into a controlled field programme. Retailer-specific store lists, installation packs, product-and-pusher layouts and reporting files gave installers a clear brief for each location. The initial 14-store trial helped establish the installation sequence and practical requirements before the programme expanded to further retail estates.

For the planned 199-store phase, City Install built a delivery model around 11 to 12 installers working through a coordinated two-to-three-week window. Routes and working days could be planned in advance, while installation during store opening hours removed the need to rely on a single overnight access period.

On site, teams checked in with store management, confirmed the nominated bay and demerchandised it carefully. They assembled and permanently fixed the security frames, positioned the pushers and products to the approved guide, checked operation and presentation, then left the area clean. Completion records and manager sign-off created evidence that the store had been visited and the solution installed as instructed.
