Challenge

What was the client trying to achieve?

A creative agency needed a dependable installation partner to deliver repeated large-format window vinyl and fabric graphic updates across a major UK department-store estate. The programme covered at least 24 locations, from flagship city stores to shopping-centre and outlet sites, with each installation needing to reproduce the approved creative accurately and consistently.

The work took place in live retail environments. Installers had to coordinate with store and security teams, protect the surrounding area, follow site-specific visuals and leave each window clean, complete and ready for customers.

What was at stake?

These were highly visible, customer-facing graphics. Poor alignment, bubbles, lifting edges, untidy joins or damage to the supplied material would be immediately apparent and could weaken a national campaign at store level. Different window sizes, access arrangements and existing conditions also meant that a standard brief still required careful judgement on site.

With teams working across a dispersed estate, the agency needed more than confirmation that an installer had attended. It required clear evidence that every element had been fitted to the guide, that any pre-existing or installation damage had been recorded, and that exceptions or remedial requirements were identified before the team left site.

City Install approach

How we made a difference.

City Install coordinated suitably experienced installers around the estate and gave each team the location-specific visuals and installation requirements. On arrival, teams checked in with the store or security contact, confirmed the working area and recorded the condition of the glazing, graphics and surrounding fixtures before starting.

The vinyl and fabric graphics were installed methodically, with close attention to panel order, alignment, joins, edges and the finish viewed from the customer's side of the glass. Existing material and installation waste were removed and disposed of correctly, and work areas were cleaned before handover.

A structured completion checklist created a consistent reporting standard across every location. Teams recorded arrival and departure times, photographed the finished work from all relevant angles, labelled and submitted the images, documented any damage or variance, and identified whether extra or remedial work was required. Store representatives then signed off the completed installation.

Result

What happened and what was the outcome?

The programme established a repeatable way to deliver high-quality retail graphics across at least 24 geographically dispersed locations. The combination of experienced installation, disciplined site checks and consistent close-out reporting helped the agency maintain the intended appearance of the campaign across different store formats.

Photographic evidence and store sign-off gave the client clear visibility of completion at each location, while recorded exceptions made follow-up work easier to plan and manage. The result is an ongoing multi-site delivery model that combines a careful customer-facing finish with the reporting control required for a national retail estate.
